Harris Earns Division III All-New England Honors

Harris Earns Division III All-New England Honors

            WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. -- Senior Connor Harris (Auburn, Maine/Edward Little) added another honor to his resume Friday earning Division III All-New England honors in the long jump at the annual New England Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships being held at Williams College.

            Harris finished fifth in the long jump with a jump of 6.70 meters (21-11 ¾) on his first attempt in the competition.  Harris will compete on Saturday in the triple jump and the high jump.

            Sophomore Jared Marshall (Gloucester, Mass.) advance to the final of the 110-meter hurdles on Saturday by winning his preliminary round race on Friday with a time of 14.96 seconds.  Marshall's time was the third quickest during the preliminary round.

            Sophomore Ben Foster (Gorham, Maine) ran in the 10,000 meters finishing with a time of 32.41.19.  Junior Trey Rogers (Auburn, Maine/Edward Little) ran a time of 11.41 seconds in the 100-meter dash preliminary round.

            Southern Maine scored four points on Harris' finish in the long jump to be tied for 10th place among the 16 scoring teams.  M.I.T., led by a 1-2-3-4 finish in the 10,000 meters, leads the competition with 34 points.

            Competition resumes Saturday morning (10:00 a.m.).
