Manning established a new Southern Maine record in the 800-meter run this past weekend at the New England Alliance and Little East Championship. The senior from Jericho, Vt. completed the course in a time of one minute, 53.98 seconds to capture the individual event. Manning also placed fifth in the conference circuit in the 1,500-meter run (3:58.12).
Harmon won the hammer throw event this past weekend at the Little East Championships. The senior from Auburn, Maine defeated the nine-person field with a heave of 48.81 meters. He also placed second in the conference standings in the shot put (13.77 meters) and discus (41.77 meters).
Harmon and Manning helped the Huskies finish as runners-up in the 2012 Little East Conference Championship and fourth in the New England Alliance Championship. The Alliance meet features schools from the LEC and the Massachusetts State College Athletic Conference. The Little East Conference scoring and championship are taken from the Alliance results. Southern Maine scored 140 points to finish second out of six teams in LEC scoring.
Southern Maine competes at New England Division III Championships beginning on Thursday, May 3 (12:00 p.m.).
