Christian McCue Earns Post Season Honor from the Little East Conference

GORHAM, Maine –  Senior Christian McCue (Hampden, Maine/Hampden Academy) of the University of Southern Maine Huskies' men's basketball team has been selected to the 2017 All-Little East Conference second team.

Christian is a fantastic leader and naturally places a huge amount of responsibility on his shoulders," noted veteran head coach Karl Henrikson.  "Nobody plays harder on each possession to try and help the team win.  He demonstrated a tremendous work ethic and played with intensity throughout the season."

Transferring to Southern Maine from McGill University (Canada), McCue joined the Huskies in the 2016-2017 season.  McCue had a breakout season as a senior, averaging a team-leading 16.1 points per game while shooting 42.2 percent (127-for-301) from the field and a solid 35.2 percent (50-for-142) from three-point range, adding 1.3 assists and 1.7 rebounds per game.  Finishing seventh in the Little East Conference in points per game, McCue's 50 three-point field goals were sixth in the conference, while his 85.1 free throw percentage (114-for-134) was second.

With the ability to score in bunches, McCue established a career-high of 36 points during the 2017-2018 season, achieving the total twice.  McCue set his career-high against Mt. St. Vincent (Dec. 29) with an 11-for-22 effort, including four three-pointers.  The 6-2 guard matched his career best weeks later against Keene State with an 11-for-20 effort while knocking down 5-of-10 three-pointers, and going 9-for-10 from the free throw line.

A three-time William B. Wise Scholar-Athlete, McCue is a computer science major.  In his two seasons with the Huskies, McCue totaled 718 points, including 418 this season. With 114 three-pointers over two seasons, McCue is tied for 10th in Huskies' career record, while114 free throws made in 2017-2018 are seventh in USM single-season records.
