GORHAM, Maine – Junior Grayson Waterman (Berwick, Maine/Noble) of the University of Southern Maine Huskies' men's basketball team has been named the Maine Men's Basketball Coaches and Writers Association (MMBCWA) Co-Player of the Week after an outstanding pair of performances leading Southern Maine to a 2-0 week.
Waterman averaged 22.5 points, 8.0 rebounds, 2.5 assist, and 1.0 steals per game as the Huskies picked up wins over Colby College and Little East Conference opponent UMass Dartmouth. Waterman scored a game and career-high 27 points in USM's thrilling 92-87 win over Colby, while snagging a career-best nine rebounds. In a key Little East win over UMass Dartmouth, Waterman poured in 18 points and hauled in a team-high seven rebounds. Waterman finished the week shooting 50.0 percent (17-for-34) from the field.
Waterman, who is averaging 5.5 points per game while shooting a solid 42.2 percent from the field, has turned up his offensive productivity in the last four games to average 15 points, 5.75 rebounds and 1.5 assists per game.
Southern Maine hosts Plymouth State University on Wednesday (7:30 p.m.) in a Little East Conference game. Huskies' Athletics will be hosting its annual Town of Gorham Night celebration and will also be taking part in a Throw-Back-The-Clock game.
