GORHAM, Maine – Senior Christian McCue (Hampden, Maine/Hampden Academy) and freshman DJ Anderson (Houston, Texas/Davis) each earned a spot on the weekly honor roll from the Maine Men's Basketball Coaches and Writers Association as part of its weekly award program.
McCue, who has earned Little East Conference Player of the Week honors once this season, was selected to the weekly honor roll after averaging 25.0 points per game while shooting a red-hot 58.3 percent from the field, including 50.0 percent from three-point range. In a narrow 77-74 loss to Keene State College on Saturday, McCue matched his season and career-high with 36 points, knocking down 11-of-20 from the floor, including five three-pointers. McCue added two steals, an assist and a blocked shot in the effort. Against UMass Boston, McCue had 14 point, shooting 8-for-10, from the free throw line.
Anderson, last week's MMBCWA and Little East Conference Rookie of the Week, earned honor roll status, averaging 16.0 points, 6.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 1.5 steals per game while shooting 47.8 percent from the floor. At UMass Boston, Anderson had 18 points, six rebounds, four assists and two steals, and a 4.0 assist-to-turnover ratio in 36 minutes of action. At home against Keene State, Anderson had 14 points, six rebounds, two assists and a steal.
Southern Maine hosts Colby College (7:30 pm) in a non-conference game on Tuesday at Hill Gym.
