GORHAM, Maine – Senior Christian McCue (Hampden, Maine/Hampden Academy) of the University of Southern Maine Huskies' men's basketball team has been named the Little East Conference Player of the Week for the week ending December 31. It is the first LEC Weekly honor of McCue's career.
McCue averaged a team-best 27.5 points per game over the Huskies' two games at the Coaches vs. Cancer Invitational tournament hosted by Lehman College (Bronx, N.Y.) last week. Over the course of two games, McCue was 7-for-18 from three-point range, and 18-for-37 overall (48.7 percent) from the field. McCue poured in a career-best 36 points after shooting 11-for-22 from the floor and 10-for-11 from the free throw line in USM's contest against Mount St. Vincent. In the prior game against SUNY Poly, McCue scored 19 points on 7-of-15 shooting with three rebound and three assists.
McCue leads the Huskies in scoring averaging 15.5 points per game and is shooting 43.0 percent (52-for-121) from the field, and has made 26 three-pointers, shooting 38.2 percent from beyond the arc.
