BRUNSWICK, Maine – Sophomore Greg Kalagias (Saco, Maine/Thornton Academy) finished tied for sixth place out of 55 golfers to pace the University of Southern Maine Huskies to a fourth place finish at the 2017 Bowdoin College Invitational Saturday and Sunday at the Brunswick Country Club.
Southern Maine placed fourth out of 11 teams scoring a team total of 637 (322-315) to finish 61 strokes above par. St. Anselm College finished first with a score of 603 (303-300), followed by Endicott 625 (318-307), and Nichols 636 (319-317).
Kalagais turned in a two-day total of 155 (78-77) to lead USM, finishing the tournament 11 over par on the 6627-yard, par-72 course. Kalagias had a birdie on the par-5 (494) 17th hole to highlight round one, and connected on a pair of birdies on round two. Kalagais shot a four on the par-five second hold, and a three on the par-four 18th hole.
Senior Grayson Waterman (Berwick, Maine/Noble) tied for ninth with a two-round score of 157 (80-77), totaling three birdes and an eagle. Waterman hit for an eagle on the par-five 16th hole shooting a three. Sophomores Tristan Dundas (Abbotsford, British Columbia/Sardis Secondary), Ryan Dee (Houlton, Maine) and junior Shaun McKinnon (Rocky Hill, Conn.) rounded out the scoring for the Huskies, placing tied for tied for 27th, tied for 31st, and tied for 35th, respectively.
Southern Maine returns to action on Wednesday at the UMaine Farmington Invitational at the Waterville Country Club.
