USM Fourth at John Queenan Memorial Invitational

            CASCO, Maine -- Sophomore Josh Hogan (Falmouth, Maine) shot a team-best 79 to place sixth among the 37 golfers competing Tuesday at the 2010 John Queenan Memorial Tournament hosted by St. Joseph's College (Maine) at the Point Sebago Golf Club.

            Hogan's 79 helped the Huskies to a fourth-place finish in the eight-team tournament with a team score of 328.  Freshman Rich Getchell (Windham, Maine) posted the Huskies' second low score with an 82, and junior captain Cody Berkowitz (Saco, Maine) carded an 83.

            The University of New England won the tournament with a score of 320, followed by Husson University in second with a score of 321.  UNE's win halted a five-year winning streak by Husson.

            The University of Maine Farmington edged out USM for third place by one stroke with a score of 327.

            Husson junior Chris Hamel (Waterville, Maine) earned medalist honors with a 75.  St. Joseph's freshman Kevin Richardson (Coventry, Conn.) finished second with a 77.

            Southern Maine returns to action on Sunday (12:00) when it hosts the USM Fall Classic at the Sable Oaks Golf Club in South Portland, Maine.
