Hapworth, Dexter Receive Multiple Postseason Honors
GORHAM, Maine -- Two members of the University of Southern Maine baseball team added to their growing list of postseason accolades Tuesday when the ABCA/Rawlings NCAA Division III and the D3baseball.com All-Region teams were announced.
Sophomore infielder/relief pitcher Jake Dexter (Oakland, Maine/Messalonskee) was named the ABCA All-Region first team at the utility position, and the D3baseball.com All-Region first team as the relief pitcher. Rookie outfielder Dylan Hapworth (Winslow, Maine) was picked for the D3baseball.com All-Region first team, and the ABCA All-Region second team.
Dexter had a standout season as the Huskies starting second baseman and closer. At the plate, he hit .356 (64 for 180) with 36 runs scored, six doubles, one home run and 25 RBI. The slick-fielding Dexter made just nine errors in the field to finish with a .951 fielding percentage.

The right-hander worked 40 2/3 innings allowing just 34 hits and eight walks while striking out 34 and holding opponents to a .227 batting average. Previously, Dexter was named to the All-Little East Conference first team at second base and relief pitcher.
Hapworth made an immediate impact on the Huskies' lineup offensively batting a team-high .394 (63 for 160) with 14 doubles, four triples, nine home runs and 42 RBI. Named the Little East Conference Rookie of the Year and a first team all-conference pick, Hapworth piled up 112 total bases for a .700 slugging percentage.
In second game of a doubleheader against LEC foe Rhode Island College, Hapworth equaled the school single-game record hitting three home runs. He led the team with 22 multiple-hit games, and 13 multiple-RBI games.
During the 2017 season, Dexter was named the LEC Pitcher of the Week on April 24. Hapworth was a two-time LEC Rookie of the Week selection (April 17, April 24) and the Player of the Week on April 17.
