Olszak Named LEC Rookie of the Week
GORHAM, Maine -- For the second time this season, the Little East Conference has selected University of Southern Maine freshman shortstop Andrew Olszak (Danvers, Mass.) picked as the Rookie of the Week. The conference office made the announced today.
In four games last week, Olszak hit safely in all four games batting .533 (8 for 15) with three runs scored, two doubles and three RBI. He had multiple hits in three games, including going 3 for 3 with three runs scored and two RBI in the Huskies' 9-1 win over the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth that clinched the LEC regular season title and the top seeding in the upcoming championship tournament.
On the season, Olszak is batting .278 (40 for 144) with 18 runs scored, a team-high 12 doubles and 23 RBI. The rookie infielder was previously named the LEC Rookie of the Week on March 20.
Southern Maine, 28-9 overall and 12-2 in LEC play, will host the Little East Conference Baseball Championship Tournament that starts Wednesday morning (9:30 a.m.). USM will take on sixth-seeded Keene State College in the opening game of the six-team, double-elimination tournament that runs through Saturday.
